About Us

OmniSite.org is a collection of 24 free tools for everyday jobs on the web: making QR codes and barcodes, formatting JSON, comparing text, checking why email lands in spam, removing location data from photos and more. It is built and maintained by one independent developer, as an alternative to tool sites that bury a thirty-second task under pop-ups, sign-up walls and uploads to someone else's server.

How the tools are built

They run on your device

Every tool is code that runs in your browser. The text you paste, the files you open and the passwords you generate stay on your computer or phone and are never uploaded. Two tools need the internet to do their job: the email checker looks up public DNS records, and the link preview checker loads the preview image from wherever it is hosted. The privacy policy spells out exactly what those requests contain.

They follow the standard, not the shortcut

A tool that is almost right is worse than none, because you trust it. So each one is built to the specification it implements and tested against it. The QR generator reads every code back with a decoder before you download it. The JSON formatter is tested against the browser's own parser and never rounds a large number. The diff checker finds the minimal set of changes, the same way git does. The title case converter follows the actual AP, APA and Chicago rules, and the SMS counter does the same GSM-7 arithmetic carriers do.

They explain themselves

Each tool page has a written guide underneath: how the thing works, why it fails, and what to do about it. The guides section goes deeper into the problems people most often bring to these tools.

What it costs

Nothing. There are no accounts, no usage limits and no premium tier. The site is paid for by advertising, which is why you may see ads, and by the fact that a static site costs very little to run. Analytics and ad services set cookies; your input to the tools is never part of what they see.
